Prenatal Diagnosis: CVS

This is another article I found on the databases from the library but this one is from the magazine American Family Physician, October 15, 2005; 72, 8; page 1577. The information presented is lay ed out very basic with questions titling new paragraphs. All women do not get this test done but it is especially suggested if you are a woman over 35 because you have a greater risk of having a baby with a gene problem. It was mentioned that there may be some mild bleeding after the test. CVS does not test for neural tube defect which causes spina bifida. In some babies CVS may cause problems with fingers or toes, but this only seems to happen if the test is done before the ninth week of pregnancy.
